Rose Hydrolate (Distillate) soothes your skin under your eyes. It also helps lighten your skin and get rid of dark circles. Rose is a natural astringent and helps tighten pores and restore suppleness for a radiant complexion. The natural oils found in roses help lock moisture into the skin, keeping skin feeling smooth. Rose is especially beneficial for those with sensitive skin because the sugars in its petals create a soothing feeling. Rose contains high amounts of vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant. This important vitamin can help protect skin cells from damage, such as from staying out in the sun too long. Rose has antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties, making it ideal to topically treat a host of ailments including abrasions, burns and skin conditions.
Witchhazel (Hamamelis Virginiana) will alleviate skin inflammation and acne. Witchhazel has an anti-inflammatory effect and acts as a disinfectant, which enables it to provide relief of painful and slow-to-heal pustules. Witchhazel is also mildly astringent, and will reduce and constrict your pores, making them appear smaller. Witchhazel has been shown to increase the blood flow.
Aloe Vera is recognized as an effective aid in healing almost any type of burn or wound. It can help replenish the skin with moisture and foster cell regeneration. It has proven to accelerate healing because among other things it has the ideal polysaccharides necessary for the skin to repair. Aloe Vera contains over 75 different nutrients beneficial to the skin including vitamins, minerals, enzymes, sugars, anthraquinones or phenolic compounds, lignin, saponins, sterols, amino acids and salicylic acid.
Glycerin (vegetable based) is available naturally in vegetable oils and can also be the byproduct of soap making. Glycerin is found naturally in the skin and forms part of the “Natural Moisturizing Factor” (NMF), a compound of substances which are responsible to retain and bind moisture in the skin.
Young and healthy skin is normally well hydrated and contains enough natural moisture retaining and binding substances (NMF). Mature and dry skin does not produce enough of these elements and therefore requires moisture offered from the outside of the skin and products to retain the moisture in the skin.
It has strong water-binding properties, enhances the flexibility of the skin and when used with vegetable oils and Phytosteroles helps to regenerate the skin. It penetrates deep into the Epidermis and acts as a moisture depot. Because it penetrates so deep it can hardly be washed out when the skin gets into contact with water.
Glycerin also helps to strengthen the skin barrier – It increases the thickness of the epidermal layer and improves the barrier function. This means that the harmful chemicals stay out of the skin and moisture stays in.
Since Glycerin is part of the “body-own” substances it is very compatible to the skin.
